What is a pincer nail (also called a trumpet nail)?
Where the nail is folder or trumpet looking.
What causes it?
A number of things can cause pincer nails/ trumpet nail. Genetics can be a cause...but many times a pincer nail can develop because of shoes that pinch the toes together or improper maintenance of cutting or filing. Pincer nails are more common in the elderly, diabetes, liver problems, and medication can affect the health of a nail.
How do I prevent it?
Treatment for pincer nails is correct by filing or surgery. Once the nail is cut below the free edge there is a very big chance of getting an ingrown toe nail. That is why it is best to not shorten them too short. Corrective filing and cutting allows the nail to grow and widen so the edges don’t dig into the skin.

How to take off shellac and gel polish
To take off shellac and gel polish you get 100% acetone and soak a cotton ball and place it on your finger. Then take tin foil and wrap your fingers. Let it sit for 15-20 min. Your polish should peel right off. If it doesn't it needs to sit longer. This is the best way to remove your shellac or gel polish so your nails don't get damaged.
Purchase 100 % acetone at Wal-Mart by the polish
Shellac/gel polish- This was on for 2 weeks! Still looks great!
Peels right off

Don't like arylic nails but want your nails done? Try this! NO damage!
For those of you that don't like having acrylic nails, damaging your nails or hate that your nail polish chips try Shellac! If you haven't heard of shellac you are in for a treat. It's LONG lasting nail polish with long lasting shine. No chip for up to 2 weeks. Shellac can get pricey so I discovered that if I put a base coat of shellac and the main color in gel it works just as good if not better. No roughing the nail up and lasts long. I only charge $15 a set when most places charge $25 or more. Come and get yours done! ~Lissa B

Quality is Time
For many that have gone in an Asian salon know that they are
fast! The people there can take 25 min.- 45 min. a set! This is great if you
want to get in and out! BUT there is a problem with most places like this. You
usually leave with soar fingers because they are not careful or you are bleeding.
Not just that but they are not very sanitary. You wonder why your pretty white
nail tips are turning yellow the next day. It’s because their product is
contaminated with bacteria. This could lead to fungi’s!
My promise to you is that you will not leave with your
fingers hurting and I want to make sure that you are happy with your nails and
leaving with the best quality. How do I do this? I take my time. I believe that
quality is time! On average it takes me about 2 hours to do a full set and many
people say “wow that’s awhile!” But I am
providing the best quality, art and being very sanitary which requires that
time. So know that you are in good hands when you come to me! ~Lissa

How to get rid of the yellow on your jewelry
For the longest time I would just throw away my jewelry that would change yellow
because I thought it was permanent. Well it's not!!! My husband looked it up online
the other day and there is away to getting rid of the yellow. Get a bowl of very
hot water and put half a spoon of salt and half a spoon baking soda. Let your jewelry sit
for 15- 30 min. After that get a cloth or paper towel and rub where all the
yellow parts are. Sometimes you have to repeat this 2-3 times to make it really
new and shiney. Make sure that from now on you put your jewelry in a bag or container that it can't breathe air. The oils from your hands and leaving your jewelry out causes yelling. This can happen even to real silver and white gold.

Why do my nails curve?
Well you all must wonder why your nails curve over your free edge, more flexible and thinner. I have the answer! This is called eggshell nails. This is usually caused by poor diet, hereditary, stress, internal disease or medications.

How do I fix eggshell nails?
Trim you nails, change and improve your diet. Include all the vitamins and nutrients that your body needs and stop medications that cause eggshell nails.

What's the best Nail Polish out there?
So everyone I'm sure wants to know what the best nail polish there is out there... Here it is! Venique. You ask why? Did you know that your nails change size in temperature? When it's warm your nail expands and when it's cold they shrink. Hence this is why your nail polish chips faster! Venique nail polish is designed to be flexible to move with your nails when it changes size which causes less chipping!!! -Lissa B (Find at your local CosmoProf)
"Venique is a nail polish line made with the latest technology to bring the most to you manicures and pedicures. Venique Nail Lacquer is made with Sil-Tek, a silicone-based ingredient that causes the polish to be flexible. What does that mean for you? A polish that guards against the annoying chipping and flaking of a regular manicure. Plus, Sil-Tek works with the infused diamond dust ingredient for an extra shiny finish. When the original shine is lost, all you have to do is buff your nails a little, and the shine returns! With one coat drying in just 4 minutes, Venique Nail Lacquer is truly a revolutionary nail polish!" says- http://www.beautyofasite.com/c-5884-venique.aspx

Caramel Apples
Caramel Apples:
6 apples
14 oz of caramel
butter on pan
1 tbs of milk
wooden sticks
First stick the sticks in the apples (you can get in the craft
section at wal-mart).
Then get the caramels in a bowl and add 1 tbs of milk. Put the bowl in the
microwave and put it for 2 min. then mix and put in for another 20 sec. Take the
apples and role them in the caramel. Try to hurry because it hardens fast. Then
put them on a pan with butter rubbed on the pan. Let the apples sit for 25 min.
and they are ready to be eaten!!! If you want to make them more
yummy you can add candy or nuts crushed.

White spots on your nails?
The white spots on your nail plate is called leukonychia. Many people say that it is due to lack of vitimins. This is false. It is the damaging of your matrix. The matrix is where your nail is created right next your cuticle. It does not take much to cause leukonychia. Even a simple hit to the matrix will cause white spotting as your nail grows out. Now you know!
